Visitor guidelines

• Experience a world where words disappear and actions speak louder than ever at Dialogue in Silence & Dialogue Lab: Guided Tour. Situated at Dialoghaus Hamburg, this immersive journey puts you in the shoes of those who navigate life without sound.
• From the outset of your visit, you are invited to leave behind the familiar comfort of spoken language. Don a pair of noise-cancelling headphones and step into sound-proofed rooms where silence reigns. Here, professional deaf guides, skilled in sign language and non-verbal communication, lead you through everyday situations from their world.
• Throughout your 60-minute guided tour, explore different spaces designed to challenge your senses and encourage new ways of interacting. Simple tasks become profoundly insightful as you learn to interpret gestures, facial expressions and body language. The Dialogue Lab adds another dimension with extra activities and engagement, allowing you to further refine your understanding of non-verbal cues.
• The entire experience is barrier-free. All communication during the guided tour is conducted in sign language, helping you grasp the challenges and strengths of non-verbal exchange. At the end, you can participate in a question-and-answer session where professional guides respond to questions in German and English, assisted by an interpreter.
• Dialoghaus Hamburg is centrally located and accessible by public transport. The Dialogue in Silence experience and Dialogue Lab together require approximately 90 minutes. Please arrive on time to maximise your experience, and note that the exhibition is best enjoyed by visitors ready to step outside their comfort zone.
